Ink Sonata (2024)

Understanding as central to human existence, shaping our interactions with the world. Today, we revisit this concept in the age of artificial intelligence.

We use AI to deconstruct piano music into its basic elements, based on emotional commonalities, and reorganizes them in calligraphic expressions. This process involves three stages: generating semantics, stylizing characters, and mapping information to achieve emotional translation. It offers the audience a real-time, empathetic, and interactive experience, where the underlying connections between diverse cultural forms are revealed as the piano piece is interpreted through calligraphic lines. Audience will also enjoy ‘calligraphy’ created by Beethoven and other pianists under this system.

This reinterpretation pushes the boundaries of traditional cultural forms,
inviting a reevaluation of the nature of "understanding" in the context of AI.
